Brigitte Ringer-Nenner war Augenzeugin der Kristallnacht und Überlebende des Konzentrationslagers Bergen Belsen. Während ihres ganzen Lebens schrieb sie Gedichte, die ihre Gefühle und Gedanken über ihr Leben als Jüdin ausdrückten. Ihre Reflektionen auf was sie während des Holocausts gesehen und erlebt hatte und ihre Überlegungen im Nachhinein sind in diesem Buch eingeschlossen. Frau Ringer-Nenner verstarb im Mai 2005 in Jerusalem.
